Questions and answers
How the directory works, what the verification tick claims, and where the boundaries sit. If something here is unclear, tell us.
What is DubaiGirlfriend?
It is a Dubai directory for platonic company. Members are people who will join you for coffee, a meal, an event or a social outing, so that you are not doing it alone.
That is the whole service. There is nothing else on offer and nothing implied beyond it.
Is this a dating site?
No. Dating platforms assume romantic intent and sort people accordingly. DubaiGirlfriend does not.
Many members are not looking for romance at all, and some are married or simply content on their own. The request here is narrower and more ordinary: company for an evening.
Is this an escort service?
No. Offering, requesting or advertising paid, sexual or intimate services is forbidden in the terms and leads to removal of the account.
The boundary is stated openly rather than left ambiguous, because a service where the line is blurry turns into something else quickly and everyone using it in good faith leaves first.
What does the verified tick mean?
It means that person completed a live face check, and the face captured in that check matched the photographs on their profile. In short: they are real, and they are who they appear to be in their pictures.
It is not a background check, a criminal records check or a character reference. It says nothing about someone's intentions or manners, and it does not replace your own judgement when you meet.
There is no way for anyone, including us, to award the tick by hand.
How do I get listed in the directory?
Five things have to be true at once: your email address is confirmed, your profile is complete, you have between five and ten photographs that a moderator has approved individually, one approved photograph is set as your cover, and you have passed the live face check.
Until every one of those is done, your listing stays private. Nothing is published automatically and there is no way to skip the queue.
How many photographs do I need?
Between five and ten, and each one is reviewed by a moderator before it can appear. They must be recent photographs of you, and you must own the rights to them.
One of the approved photographs becomes your cover image, which is what appears in the directory listing.
How does contacting someone work?
There is no open messaging. You send a connection request, and a conversation only exists once that request has been accepted.
This keeps unsolicited messages out of members' inboxes entirely, rather than filtering them after the fact.
Can I decline a request without explaining why?
Yes, always. You are never required to give a reason, and a request you simply leave alone has been answered.
Continuing to push after a refusal will cost the account. You can also block someone outright, which stops any further contact.
What happens to my photographs when I upload them?
They are rebuilt rather than stored as supplied. Each image is decoded and re-encoded from raw pixels, which discards everything wrapped around the picture data: GPS coordinates, camera and device identifiers, colour profiles and anything else appended to the file.
Phone photographs routinely record exactly where they were taken, so this matters. Each approved photograph is then produced in several sizes and formats, and one reduced master copy is kept privately for moderation. The master is never served publicly.
Is my email address or phone number visible?
No. Email addresses and telephone numbers are never shown on profiles, and members are asked not to put contact details in a profile or a first message.
Your network address is stored only as a keyed hash, used for rate limiting and abuse prevention rather than kept in the clear.
What does it cost?
Registration is free, for members and for visitors browsing the directory.
Who can join?
Adults only — you must be 18 or over, and every account belongs to one real person.
The directory covers 26 areas across Dubai, and members choose the area they are based in.
How do I report a profile or a member?
There is a report link on every profile and inside every conversation. Reports go straight to our moderators and are confidential.
Use that rather than the general contact form, so a complaint about a member does not sit in a general inbox. You can block someone at the same time.
Reporting a profile or a member goes through the “Report” link on that profile or conversation, not through this page — those reach our moderators directly and stay confidential.
