Philosophy

Dubai is a city people arrive in alone. New job, new tower, new neighbourhood where nobody knows your name. You can have a full calendar here and still eat every meal by yourself.

DubaiGirlfriend exists for the simple, ordinary thing that is strangely hard to arrange: someone to share an evening with. Coffee. Dinner. A gallery opening. A wedding where turning up alone would be its own small ordeal.

Company, not romance

This is platonic company, and we mean it literally. No paid intimacy, no sexual services, no quiet understanding that something else is on offer. That is not a disclaimer bolted on for the lawyers — it is the whole premise. A directory where the boundary is ambiguous becomes something else within a month, and everyone using it in good faith leaves.

So the line is drawn in the open, in the terms, in moderation, and in what happens to accounts that test it.

What the tick actually means

A verified profile means one specific thing: that person completed a live face check, and the face in that check matched the photos on the profile. It is proof that the person in the pictures is the person you will meet.

It is not a character reference. It does not mean we have vetted their intentions, their manners or their punctuality. It means they are real and they are who they appear to be — which is the one thing that is genuinely hard to establish online, and the one thing we can honestly promise.

We would rather show no tick than an unearned one. There is no way for anyone, including us, to grant it by hand.

Every profile is reviewed

Nothing appears in the directory automatically. Before a listing goes public it needs a confirmed email address, a complete profile, a passed face check, and photos that a moderator has looked at individually. That is slower than letting everyone publish instantly. It is slow on purpose.

No is a complete answer

Members choose who they reply to and are never required to explain a decline. A request that goes unanswered has been answered. Pressure, persistence after a no, or any attempt to move someone towards something they did not agree to will cost you your account.

Privacy by default

Email addresses and phone numbers never appear on profiles. Photos are re-encoded when you upload them, so the location and camera data buried in the original file is discarded rather than published. Conversations stay between the two people in them.

We keep the outcome of a face check — pass or fail, and when — and not the selfie or the video behind it. We collect what the service actually needs to work, and then we stop.

Your own judgement still matters

Verification, moderation and reporting raise the floor. They do not replace meeting in a public place, telling a friend where you are going, and leaving when something feels off. Read the safety page before your first meeting — it is short, and it is there for a reason.

If we get something wrong

We would rather hear it than not. Tell us.
